To discover, to learn, to protect. That is to be a Starchaser.

Starchasers are followers of the goddess Xyrina, Mother of Stars. They believe HER to be a powerful Creation Goddess, who gave them their mission to explore the cosmos, helping people on the planets they pass by and detailing their journeys, so they can share the wonders of space to as many people as they can. To show everyone that they are not alone, to make the vastness of the universe seem less daunting.

Starchasers as a whole are quite upbeat people. They embrace new experiences and have a genuine desire to learn everything about the planets they visit. They also love to help others, often for very little in return. They ask for no payment anyways. The experience is what they truly seek after all.

They are made up of a variety of races, with most of them drawn together by the philosophy of discovery and conservation.

However, with every group of people, there are a few bad eggs.

Two years ago, a Starchaser hungry for power staged a mutiny of the Emerald V fleet, doing away with the old captain Damien Marsh through a deadly smear campaign, and giving all power to himself. However, Damien’s daughter Mello, the rightful person to take on the role of captain, was greatly displeased by this, and though she tried to fight, she was ultimately silenced, and left to fend for herself in a now unfamiliar, hostile climate.

But a few days ago, a chance came when warping through to another galaxy, the side-ship that Mello had been demoted to, along with the other dissenters, was the last to warp through the wormhole. Seizing the chance, she turned the ship around and flew away as the wormhole shut, staging a little mutiny of her own.

As the crew of the ship came to realise that they had truly escaped the hold of their cruel Captain, into their own little fleet, Mello decided to take on the role of Captain, and continue the legacy of the Starchasers the way her father would have wanted, travelling on their ship, aptly renamed Emerald VI, to continue their travels across the cosmos, in accordance to Mother Xyrina’s original decrees, and maybe, to also search for people that may help them bring back the Starchasers’ former glory and reputation.

George Bernard Shaw said: “Religion is a great force – the only real motive force in the world; but what you fellows don’t understand is that you must get at a man through his own religion and not through yours.”

In this story, characters from various religions talk to people. The goal would be to improve dialogue, build bridges of understanding, and hopefully, help people to learn more about various religions along the way!

Setting:
In a world of cultural and religious diversity, a group of travelers from different faiths embark on a journey, drawn by their shared spiritual yearnings. Along the way, they encounter people from all walks of life - skeptics, the devout, the spiritually curious, and those simply seeking community. As the pilgrims navigate the challenges, they find themselves sharing their beliefs, rediscovering their own faith, and finding unexpected connections with those whose worldviews differ from their own.

Premise:
The characters in Pilgrims of Faith are members of various religious traditions - Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, indigenous faiths, and more. As they travel together, they engage in deep conversations about the meaning of life, the nature of the divine, and the role of religion in an increasingly interconnected world.

Through their interactions with fellow travelers, locals, and others they meet along the way, the characters are challenged to articulate and examine their own beliefs, while also learning about and respectfully engaging with the perspectives of those from different backgrounds. Conflicts and misunderstandings arise, but also opportunities for mutual understanding, empathy, and spiritual growth.

As they navigate these trials, their faith is tested, and they must decide how to best live out their values and beliefs in the face of uncertainty.

Ultimately, Pilgrims of Faith is a story about the power of interfaith dialogue, the search for meaning and community in a diverse world, and the transformative potential of learning from those whose perspectives differ from our own.

Characters:
The player characters will represent a diverse array of realistic religious and spiritual backgrounds, including (but not limited to):

-Buddhist monk or nun
-Confucianism
-Devout Christian missionary
-Hindu priest or priestess
-Indigenous faith healer
-Jainism
-Jewish Rabbi
-Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
-Shinto shrine maiden
-Sikh activist
-Spiritual seeker with an eclectic, non-denominational practice
-Sufi Muslim mystic
-Taoism
-Zoroastrianism

As the story progresses, these characters will have opportunities to share their faith, engage in respectful debate, and grapple with questions of theology, ethics, and human connection. The narrative will explore how their individual beliefs and practices both unite and divide them, and how they can find common ground in their shared quest for meaning and purpose.

In the end, the players should hopefully learn from each other and develop a deeper appreciation for religious diversity. The characters may work together, strengthening interfaith bonds.

New Kowloon Outcasts

Open Lobby began {{helpers.calendarDisplayTime(1744926692)}}, ends {{helpers.calendarDisplayTime(1746136292)}}

The year is 2483.

Fifty kilometers off the coast of a country which has outlawed both, magic users and rogue cyborgs alike survive in the lawless prison that is the city-state of New Kowloon, a contorted maze of twisted skyscrapers that stretch to the sky. The last place their kind can be accepted in East Asia. They are not alone on this floating blight in the South China Sea, though. International crime has found a bastion in New Kowloon, as few laws seem to apply here. They have applied a new motto:

Sex. Drugs. Money. That is what powers this island.

But while the criminals thrive, what of the original inhabitants of this island? What is their place? Well, most of them have placed their allegiance with the main factions now ruling New Kowloon, and crime is now their way of life. From the opulent upper levels to the slums at the bottom, many have made this choice.

Some, who opposed the criminal ways the city turned to, once protested, but none of them lived to tell the tale.

However, a few, though willing to accept crime as their new purpose, aren’t exactly willing to answer to any international overlords. As such, they have been branded with the term ‘Outcasts’.
